The following rules will be in effect for all tourneys. We will amend and post location specific rules per event.
1. ALABAMA RIGS ARE LEGAL FOR THE 2014 SEASON !
1a. Rules will be discussed and clarified at check in meeting. Decisions of SKA are final in all matters . Protests must be made in writing and delivered to SKA within 30 minutes of the official check-in time.
1b. ALL photos will become sole possession of Southern Kayak Anglers and may be posted on the internet or used in any SKA promotions , advertising or legal disputes ... Anyone caught cheating will have their photos posted around the world via ALL social networking outlets... and their names will be forwarded to ALL tournament directors in the world ...
You will NOT fish competitively again ...
2. PARTICIPATION and ELIGIBILITY - Participation is open to all anglers 18 years or older. Anglers younger than 18 years old may participate upon submitting a release form with parent or guardian signature. SKA must receive a complete entry form/waiver and entry fee from each angler.
3. Registration must be done online prior to Check In Meeting . We urge you to pre-register. Late registrations will be available by prior arrangement the morning of the tournament and will be cash only.
4. SCORING - The tournament will be a CPR event using the length of fish in inches to determine score. Contestants can submit up to 3 fish for their total length.
5. Qualifying Fish ... 3 black bass ( largemouth . spotted , shoal , redeye or smallmouth are all acceptable) may be submitted per tourney. Each fish of the same length or within a 1/2" of each other must have unique markings to determine that they are different . Mouth can be open or closed ... lower lip must be touching bump stop on board. Pinched tail will be allowed ...
6. The use of a DIGITAL CAMERA or SMART PHONE to document all entries will be the only acceptable methods for entering fish. Each angler will submit their memory card and possibly a card reader/ cable to assist in downloading photos. The first photo submitted must be of your kayak with your measuring device and tournament ID card.
CELL PHONE PICS WILL BE ALLOWED ! ...... provided I can download the photo to my laptop to view. I will not score fish on phone screen.
MEMORY CARDS MUST NOT HAVE ANY OTHER PHOTOS ON THEM EXCEPT FOR THE PHOTOS YOU ARE ENTERING FOR THE SPECIFIC EVENT. TAKE A MINUTE TO LEARN HOW TO SET THE DATE AND TIME ... THIS IS MANDATORY!
6a. I know most of us take 2 or 3 pics of each fish ... or more ... to make sure we get a good shot.No problem there. What I need is for everyone to take a picture of something in between each fish you catch. Take a scenic shot or whatever you want without a fish in it right after releasing each fish.
This will make it much easier to determine each individual fish regardless how many shots you take of each one...
These are ACCEPTABLE photos ...
These ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE ...
Each submitted digital picture of a fish must be made in or on your kayak, with an approved measuring device and SKA identifier in the photo. Each photo must also show the length of the fish. Length is determined from the forward most point of the fish with the fish facing left ... to the longest part of the tail. Dorsal fin must be UP. Measurements will be rounded down to the nearest 1/4 inch. In the event of a tie... the longest single fish will be declared the winner.
7. SAFETY - Safety is most important and must be observed by all participants. Each participant is required to wear they're PFD at ALL times while competing in an event . Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
8. PERMITTED FISHING LOCATIONS –Locations will be announced for each specific tournament.
9. FISHING METHODS – All fish must be caught with rod and reel using artificial bait only. All fish must be caught from the kayak.
10. NO TROLLING MOTORS ALLOWED - Paddle or pedal only. CANOES ARE ALLOWED.
11. Only one angler per Kayak is allowed. Tandem fishing may be allowed per approval from SKA.
12. SKA is responsible for all decisions.

tournament. All contestants are required to take responsibility for themselves while participating in this event. I will provide a PDF file for you to download and fill out. This can be scanned and sent back via email or printed and mailed.
